Happy Birthday, sweet baby girl!

Our Sunshine...
I dreamed of her long before she was created.  A little girl, OUR little girl!  I adore our boys.  I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world, but every woman knows that there is a place in her heart that longs to be a mother to a little girl.  I'm looking forward to all the wonderful girl times we are going to share together.  Pedicures, shopping, and doing hair!  I FINALLY know that I won't be alone in the kitchen cooking Thanksgiving dinner each year when I'm older.  Yes, this thought frequently plagued me.  I pictured my boys lounging in the living room enjoying football while their mother happily, but begrudgingly cooked dinner for them all, only to be left to do the clean up alone as well.  I also prayed hubby would be able to experience the joy of a daughter's love.  And, if it's God will, to be able to one day walk his daughter down the aisle.  God truly blessed us with Sunshine.  We didn't know she was going to be in our future plans, and how thankful we are that we're not in charge.  She has brought an immense joy into our home.

Sunshine...
  • is such an easy baby.  She's slept through the night since she was about a month old, and she frequently sleeps for 13+ hours.
  • still loves those two fingers to suck on when she's tired.  I'm looking forward to breaking that habit in the future {enter sarcasm here}.
  • is a crawling fool.  She can get from here to there in the blink of an eye.  Absolutely no interest in walking yet.
  • is just starting to become a picky eater.  Her signal that she's finished eating is to begin throwing, in handfuls, all of her food on the floor.
  • babbles up a storm.  I'm still not sure if anything she says is actually a real word.  She does try especially hard to say, "thank you," although I'm the only one would could possible recognize it.
  • loves to dance.  It's almost like she has an on switch.  The music plays and her body starts amovin!
  • has a mouthful of teeth, 12 to be exact, and she is not afraid to use them!
  • is going to be one tough cookie.  After putting up with all the "love" Bright Eyes sends her way every day, she's likely to end up a future wrestler.  I'm bracing for the day that she "loves" him back!
Special thanks to daddy for remembering her birthday icecream on her actual birthday (mommy was out of town..shame, shame!).  It looks like she loved it!

Bath Time!

Bright Eyes and Sunshine have been enjoying bath time together.  It only happens about once every two weeks, usually we just hose the baby off in the sink!  (oh, how times have changed from child one to child three!)  The older child has been banned from joining in, as he's a little too old now...he is not happy about this.  Sunshine loves bathing with B.E.  She splashes him and giggles.  It's adorable!

Circus Day for Bright Eyes

B.E.'s 3K class celebrated their yearly circus day.  They filled the day with dress up and loads of fun candy!  My makeup skills are less than perfect, so my happy clown somehow ended up looking sad.  He had so much fun though, and his entire class was precious!  There were plenty of clowns, a lion, and so many other adorable little clown people!  This is such a great tradition at the school!  I will truly miss not having Sunshine experience all that the preschool has to offer.

*We're not allowed to post school pictures on the Internet...so those will be saved for us alone!

Party for Sunshine!

We celebrated Sunshine's 1st birthday with a wonderful party with family (and the close friends we consider family).  My very talented mommy and aunt made her a beautiful sun cake and a little smash cake to match.  Although, there were many times when I thought to myself that it would have been SO much easier to order something from Publix, I'm so glad we didn't.  They turned out adorable and will mean a lot to Sunshine as she gets older.

Unfortunately, the smash part of the cake didn't quite go as I had imagined.  Didn't we mommies learn that early on with children, that nothing happens as planned!  The poor little girl was scared to death at all the people crowded around her, and refused to touch her cake.  After things calmed down a bit, we put her in her booster where she finally dug in!  I guess we won't have to worry about her itching to be the center of attention...we have Bright Eyes for that!

Her cute little shirt was made my Stickyfingerz Boutique, the socks and tutu were a gift from my mother, and her little hat was a cheap find at Hobby Lobby!  I can't express the happiness I get from seeing one of my babies dressed to the nines in pink.  Ahhh...I just love this girl!

Have I told you that she talks ALL the time.  Now granted, we have no idea what she's saying.  But she truly thinks she's carrying on a conversation.  Her and hubby were in her room the other day chatting about political events.  She clearly said that she thought the ice cream man should run for president, and that Gramma should be Secretary of State.  I had a good laugh in the other room as I heard my ridiculous husband pulling this stuff out of the air.  What a good and fun daddy!

My "extended" family...

It's hard to even call them that.  My aunt and her family as well as my grandfather have always been such a big part of my life.  I talk to them on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis.  We've never had the opportunity to live close to them though.  The drive between us is roughly 20 hours.  This has made our time together short but very sweet.  They surprised us by planning a trip down our way this past January.  It was wonderful!  It's the first time they've visited without there being a baptism for a newborn to attend.  This meant I wasn't exhausted the whole time from not sleeping due to nursing a baby all night.  It also meant I was able to enjoy the world's best margaritas, as my aunt and uncle have THE recipe for a perfect margarita!  It was a wonderful week full of shopping, card playing, and lots of laughing!  This summer the boys and I (minus the husband) are spending an entire month with my grandfather.  I can't wait to be able to spend more time with them.

It seems that during the whole week I only managed to snag one picture.  This is my cousin loving on our kiddos!!
